[ distraction pats. nice skritch behind the ears. ]
I know, you're going to miss him, right? I don't know what happened, but you're not going to be alone, though. And you don't understand a word I'm saying, of course, and this still never gets less weird, but there'll be calmer times to work things out.
[His jaws still won't let go of the sleeve, so - this jacket might just be a lost cause. But the griffin whines this time, instead of growling - scared, pained whines that stubbornly didn't want to just accept that Jason so clearly wanted to leave.]
I’m sure he’ll be back to himself before too long—if you don’t mind leaving the jacket, it’ll probably help to have the smell. I can get it back to you later.
[ listen, it's weird to treat him entirely like he's a dog or whatever and not talk to him, but: she just sort of sits there giving him skritches and jerky with one hand and texting people with the other ]
[His ear swivels toward Cobalt when he approaches and his eyes follow him, but the griffin doesn't make any quick movements. His wings, under the jacket, ruffle and try to do some flaps - it's a half-hearted effort.
Then he nestles into the jacket some more and makes a sad awoo]
[He reaches out and touches Griffin lightly on the back. Cloud Nine sweeps through him, muting all the bad feelings, replacing them with warm feeling of well-being that wasn't there before.]
[sounds like something fun for you guys to discuss in the future!]
Ah, that's right, I brought something, too —
[he reaches into his bag and pulls out a tupperware]
I've been trying to teach myself how to cook, and I attempted teriyaki salmon today. It came out... pretty okay, I think! I had a lot of leftovers so I brought some in case you guys wanted some.
Sorry it's nothing special. It was just the first thing I thought of when I was leaving the dorm.

for now, he just wanted out. as the din was wearing off, appel would start to work again.
and he didn't want to deal with that-- so as soon as the jacket is off, he stands up quickly, with only the minorest of stumbles]
Think you've got it...
[to shrike, even if he can't hear her, he can read her lips]

The griffin just starts spamming Appel barks, trying to get Jason to stop - all futile, except in making Shrike paralyzed.]

[sorry buddy, he's rushing out, before he does get Appel blocked.
enjoy the jacket.]

that’s where we are right now.
Hm. ]

he's just gonna squirm and yelp and yell until it wears off]

well, he can probably still get at the bag o' jerky, and once it wears off, she'll offer him one and tuck the jacket around him. ]
...have you even ever gotten into a relationship argument before...?

But he'll gnaw dejectedly on the jerky, if only to direct his big anxiety energy at something.]

Someone's had a rough day, and I know it's not a cure-all, but I imagine he'll feel better if he's back to himself sooner rather than later.

[since Griffin's being a sad lump on the floor, Cobalt crouches to get a slightly better look, not getting too close.]
[to Griffin:]
Wow... So this is what a griffin looks like in your neck of the woods, huh? They really are different...
Is it okay if I touch you?

a little uncomfortable to not really let him have time to sit with his sadness like this, but also
she hates seeing people suffer and the important thing is that the situation is under control!!!! it's fine!!!!! ]
There, there you go. More jerky?
We'll have you back to having thumbs in no time.

Oh, I mean, it's definitely appreciated... thank you for coming on such short notice. We've got another new member, too, so it's been... a lot.
