When Vergil enters the store, Nero gives him a little tug on his collar. He wants to explore too!]

Oh, right, I almost forgot you weren't part of my head.

[he kneels down to let Nero climb off]

[Giggling, he gets down and immediately starts to trot around, exploring the "Olive Garden" for the first time. He peers at all the little potted saplings, the herbs and vegetables - carefully touching their leaves to feel how soft they are]

Wow...

[And now it's more difficult again... Since he doesn't really know what to do, he just follows Nero around.]

...Maybe you should get a tomato plant?

Oh! Then we could make our own tomato sauce! But we'd have to wait a long time...

They have basil, too. And parsley...

[He gives them a sniff, then holds it up for Vergil to smell too.]

[Oh-- he's caught off guard, but, of course he smells too]

[he starts doing a little count of all the herb pots in a row in front of him.]

Oregano, thime, rosemary, margyram, parsley...... any of these, if ya want.

Then we should probably get whatever you like to have in tomato sauce, don't you think? If you don't have a good place to put them, there's a garden at mine.

There's a lot of roses actually. Do you want to come over to see them sometime?

I've read all about roses! The red ones mean love, the white ones mean innocence, yellow means friendship...

...And blue?

They mean, um. Wanting something that isn't real, like... someone who won't love you, even though you love them. Because roses can't really be blue.

They're pretty, though.

You can, umm. You can put blue dye in water. And then when you put a white flower in the water, the water goes up the stem and the colour goes into the petals.

You sure know a lot.

[Is it weird if he pats Nero's head? He doesn't know how to say with words that he's proud of him for it. He doesn't even realise that's what the feeling he's having is. So a gesture will have to suffice.]

[His lip trembles for a second, as though he wants to say something too but-- the words aren't coming out.]

[--until, stone-faced with determination, he lunges forward and gives his father a hug.]

[For a moment he's only frozen, taken aback. He probably hasn't been hugged since he was about Nero's current age, but it's surprising how good it is. Finally, once he's over the shock, he puts his arms around Nero in return, tight.]

...You're a good kid, Nero.
