The problem is—we tried to make room to let avante protect the people we care about, when Cardinal stepped back from leadership, but, well. There's too many people.
...yeah. That's sort of how it goes. I suspect it's a game designed to hurt feelings, so it's not surprising.
Kohime wouldn't accept anyone for "wed" other than Heart Soldier, which—well, I didn't argue with, since Nemesis also cares about Hurricane even if she won't say it. But then that means we end up sending our worst to units like LiliS, who we'd still ideally try to play soft on, because none of the kids want to do something like take back a "behead."
AlcheME—Gold wasn't there, but we try and protect the people he cares about, since he spent a lot of time... not really being able to, at the beginning.
...selfishly, there's someone I'd like to protect there, too, even if I know I can't always.
I can sit everyone down for all the speeches I like about how we have to understand that everyone here has people they care about in a significant way and that we need to share the load, but all that means is that we end up having to argue each other into sacrificing each other's loved ones during games or making some kind of grim chore rota.
If I think there's a chance that one fuck-up'll cause us to die in a stupid game, I'll play as hard as I can. And then they can get pissed off at me after.
[he shrugs.]
So, Kohime was basically asking me to play like I'm always gonna play.
There's no winning the save your loved ones game. And I'm never gonna let Arya pick three teams to put our lives on the line for.
Re: 349 Night
[ she has fully set down her book. she is apparently not actually done fretting. ]
Re: 349 Night
Normal topics of conversation. Especially if she's talking to Arya-- then I can see where it came from.
Re: 349 Night
[ she pinches the bridge of her nose. ]

Re: 349 Night
Avante bein' one of 'em.
Kids these days-- no self survival instincts.
[though he pauses at that explanation]
... So, hurt feelings all around.

[he shrugs awkwardly, switching away from texts.]
What're you gonna do?

One. Max. If we've got room to breathe.
Re: 349 Night
[ her head rests a little more heavily against his shoulder, eyes half-closed in weariness. ]
I just want them all to be able to care about each other enough that they can talk through it properly.
Re: 349 Night
[he says idly, glancing at her]
Don’t think that’s a muscle for most teams.
Re: 349 Night
But I guess I'd like to try.
Re: 349 Night
People assume it’s “we are a team.” But that’s just a statement.
It’s nothing to say unite around. Of course the army was easier.
Re: 349 Night
[ ruefully: ]
...I felt like we really had it for a while, but there's always an ending.
Re: 349 Night
Re: 349 Night
Does that sound like a thing I would do, though?
