I lost my memory of her in Malik's game. Thought she was a new member that just turned up.

She never corrected me. If we hadn't won, she probably would've just played along like she'd never meant anything to me.

And thought it was better, 'cause no one had to be upset that way.

It's my fault. I know what kind of persona I project, and that comes with good and bad. It's not worth it to push back on what's wrong, or I'd waste time and energy that no one would believe.

[he pauses, like he's about to say something more, but he exhales, a frustrated sigh.]

I just don't think it's worth fighting over what's accurate or what's not, when it comes to me.

[His face softens, and he shoves his hands in his pockets as he stares down at the sidewalks below.]

[he doesn't believe that, now, coming from Griffin. and he's quiet, leaning over the edge of the roof, considering his next move. thinking of how to respond.]

[He glances at Jason out of the corner of his eye]

[he glances at him]

[Why do you keep changing the subject-- his gaze follows to where Jason's pointing, but he's hesitant.]

[Griffin chews on his inner cheek, conflicted. But, after a while, he eventually relents with a heavy sigh.]

Fine. But only 'cause you're all invalid with a busted leg.

[he says easily, pulling out his grappling hook.]

Sure. That's why you're favouring one side, right?

[Griffin summons a Feint and hands him a spear as he steps up to plate.]

[The Feint lines up the spear like a javelin and, with all its strength, throws it-- right as Griffin kicks off and leaps, his boot hitting the polearm with perfect timing to stick him weightlessly to it. They sail through the air like an impossible surfer on a ridiculous board, until gravity inevitably dragged the spear down in an arch.

But not for long. A rail of swords began to materialize under him, carrying him through the air like a rollercoaster. As he reached higher and began to slow, Griffin shot a new Feint into the air, several feet above him. Throws him a line - in the form of a kusarigama - and the Feint catches the chain and spins his whole body to hurl Griffin up, higher, towards the next tower in his way.

One more spear, this time of a bamboo make. Instead of running up the side of the building like some might expect, he stabs the spear into its wall and lets the extreme flexibility of the weapon fling him upwards with a SPROING-- a cannonball, spinning, unfurling to dance and dart between a zigzag of footholds made of knives. Then finally, flipping to land on the roof's railing with arms spread wide.

His markings are shining so bright, he's practically a star.]

[...It was hard not to feel a little satisfied with himself after all that.

Griffin smiles to himself, like he'd just indulged a guilty pleasure, and squats on the railing to wait for Jason to get there.]

[he watches him land, and then he aims his grappling hook at one of the fake cranes and jumps, moving in a smooth arc. his bodyweight seems to pull a weakness in that, letting it turn just slightly, giving him extra distance, so he can land on a roof about halfway between with a smooth flip.

and then, he takes a running leap, latching onto an emergency staircase on the next building and climbing up that., before moving with ease, from building to building after that. jumping, and then finally, jumping up high enough for his hand to catch the railing of the building and then swing his bodyweight via momentum up.]

So, that's what you'd do in our races if I let you show off, huh?

[He watches with a faint smile, still distinctly impressed.]

Nah. That was just 'cause you asked.

[he's going crouch down, and then eventually just sit, eyes closed, and his head tilts back, as he leans back, resting his hands behind him on the concrete.]
