[Not sounding the least but convinced. But also, not pushing it further - it only had plausible deniability as a joke if he didn't force the issue.]

[he's just going to ruin it if he talks anymore.

[He could keep going with some kind of cocky quip, but honestly? He's just relieved Jason liked it.]

...Could be a regular thing, y'know. Hauling all the paint here and spraying up the whole piece is gonna take a few sessions.

[it's his turn to pause-- this time with a bite of burger to hide the pause.]

[he doesn't want to point out the obvious: griffin doesn't need him to show him where it is anymore.]

[Griffin also chews, but the obvious hitch in the plan swung in the other direction for him.]

[he looks back at him, raising his eyebrows.]

Next time I can just bring a book.

[Griffin's eyes brighten again, and he looks over at Jason in an unveiled moment of awe.]

[HE 100% DOESN'T GET WHY. but also he is very much a 'fake it until you make it' kind of guy, so he doesn't let his expression falter here.]

Isn't that what you were teasing me about earlier?

[Griffin waves it off with an awkward laugh]

If I had to keep track of all the things I tease you about, I'd never get anything done.

[look, he's fine. he doesn't need to know the answer to why he got that look.

[he will definitely... quietly finish that second burger-- definitely full.]

[Griffin's quiet for a while as he eats, chewing slower than usual. When he does finally finish, after Jason - and also way too full - he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand and glances away]

[He shrugs a little, trying to stay casual, even as he sneaks a peek back at Jason from the corner of his eye]

...This was fun. I liked it - spendin' time with you.

[he considers for a longer moment, trying to weigh what to say. the words 'romantic' ring in his head from earlier, and he glances to the side, mostly to obscure his expression.]

It... wasn't bad, yeah. I like climbing up here.

[he pauses and runs a hand through his hair, and then glances back at griffin, a smirk on his face, that doesn't quite meet his eyes.]

Just glad you could keep up with me.

[He studies Jason's face for a moment, that mask in the form of a smirk. That wasn't an expression for him, he had to remind himself. It was for everyone else.

At least, he was pretty sure. This was still kind of counter-intuitive to him.

And he still wanted to be sure.]
